Jarvey was appointed Thursday by the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis to mediate a settlement in the dispute, which is in its ninth week and led to the federal shutdown of the tribe's casino more than a week ago.

The Tulalip Tribes have offered a sneak preview of their new $78 million casino.

The new casino, which will formally open on Thursday, is in a new 227,000-square-foot building, right next to Interstate 5. It has a 5,470-parking lot.

It will replace the current casino on Marine Drive that has 45,000 square feet.
