Tribe replants trees during big expansion of its casino - 2003-05-31
Foxwoods Resort Casino could soon be new and improved, but that does not mean that the tribe has abandoned its roots.
By the end of next week, roughly 150 trees will be dug up and replanted in an effort to preserve the trees as the casino makes way for a $99 million development.
Unlike Las Vegas or Atlantic City, trees are a vital part of Foxwoods' image and landscape. Along with 20,000 pink, red and purple perennials, the surrounding forest anchors its marketing campaigns.
