Bartender appeals discriminatory code - 2004-01-01
The case of Darlene Jespersen - a woman who was fired from her job as a bartender at Harrah's hotel-casino in Reno after 21 years - now lays in the hands of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.

Attorneys for the plaintiff say Jespersen was fired from her position as a bartender at Harrah's after the company placed a new dress code requiring all women in the beverage department to wear makeup. When Jespersen refused to adhere to the "Personal Best" program, Harrah's fired her, thus placing the foundations for a sexual discrimination case.

Pesci/Stone head list of worst love scenes - 2004-01-01
Let's start this new year with some humor: The worst film love scenes of all time. According to a new survey in Film magazine, Sharon Stone may have deserved that best supporting actress Oscar nomination for Martin Scorsese's "Casino" in 1995, but should have stayed away from the "romance" (so-to-speak) with diminutive tough guy Joe Pesci. The Stone-Pesci coupling was top-rated as worst love scene.

Coming in at No. 2 was Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones for "Entrapment," with readers citing the actors' 40-year age difference as being problematic. No mention of those readers' thoughts on Zeta-Jones' decades difference with her real-life hubby, Michael Douglas!
