Casinos take a punt on RFID - 2004-01-11
Gambling chips could be embedded with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) in a new plan to help casinos eliminate fraud, and to monitor customers' wins and losses.

According to a report in this week's New Scientist, an American firm that produces gambling chips has begun including RFID tags in its products. Chipco's idea is to help casinos prevent fake chips being smuggled into their premises -- previously, more low-tech techniques such as infra-red ink were used to distinguish authentic chips.

Christchurch Casino Limited - 2004-01-11
On 6 January 2004, Mr Barry Thomas issued a statement concerning Christchurch Casino Limited. That statement had not been referred to the Christchurch Casino board, and appears to have been issued by Mr Thomas in his personally.

The statement raises a proposed share issue to "help fund the intended buyback by Christchurch Casino of the stake held by the UK company Aspinalls".

Aspinall has no intention of participating in a buyback by Christchurch Casino of its shares in Christchurch Casino. Christchurch Casino has no right to require such a buyback to take place.
