Tunica officials say "Honey Bun Bandit" is behind bars - 2004-01-11
With only one week under his belt, the new Sheriff of Tunica County has arrested one of the most notorious casino thieves around.

Investigators say she is 22-year-old Lynn Stevenson, a topless dancer with a past of drug use.

Police tracked Stevenson to her home state of Florida, then to New Orleans, finally catching up with her Saturday night in Tempe, Arizona.

That's where Alan Thompson, a special agent with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation says the "Honey Bun Bandit" confessed "She did acknowledge she was involved."

Wheeling and dealing for a Southland casino is reaching a fever pitch as lobbyists, mayors and investors fight to grab the state's last gaming license.

With a casino deal in Crestwood looking shaky, supporters of a gambling and entertainment center in Country Club Hills have contacted organizers of the Crestwood deal about getting their support.

Apparently, no agreement was reached.

Crestwood Mayor Chester Stranczek said Friday the odds of partnering with Trump Hotel and Casino Resorts to dock a gambling riverboat in his town "didn't look good" because of problems securing the property from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.
