Farewells get attention in busy legislative session - 2004-01-13
Only a few lawmakers publicly defended Sen. Joseph Suliga, D-Union, when he was charged with harassing a woman in an Atlantic City casino last year.
But on the final legislative session Monday, Suliga was treated to a warm and fuzzy farewell praising his character and good humor. Not a word was said on the public troubles that led him to leave politics.
"We are all going to feel something is missing," said Sen. Ray Lesniak, D-Union before embracing the departing Suliga. "We love you."
