Worth County keeps eye in gambling legislation - 2004-01-13
Worth and Palo Alto county residents hope the Legislature directs the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission to put an end to a suspension on issuing additional casino licenses.

Voters in both counties passed referendums last year in support of casino gambling. Black Hawk and Wapello county voters also voted in favor of casinos, and Franklin County residents will vote on a planned casino Jan. 27.

"I hope that we lift the moratorium on new licenses,'' said Sen. Jack Kibbie, an Emmetsburg Democrat.

Former California Casino ‘Reborn’ as Pentecostal Church - 2004-01-13
A former California casino reopened this weekend to a different crowd - worshipers. According
to The Selma Enterprise, roughly 1,300 parishioners
and guests were expected Sunday for the "grand opening rebirth" of the former Vineyard Casino to Vineyard Worship Centre Church, an Assemblies of God congregation. The denomination provided the $2 million to buy the property.

Senior pastor, Rod Haro doesn't see a stigma attached to the former 49,000-square foot gambling complex in Fowler, located near Fresno.
