Gambling supporter says towns clamoring - 2004-01-15
A number of northeastern Colorado towns have volunteered to be the location for a proposed Indian casino and cultural center, proponents said Wednesday.

"A lot of communities want, and need, a project like this," said Steve Hillard, a Longmont-based venture capitalist who has assembled financing for the project.

However, Hillard wouldn't disclose which communities are seeking consideration.

Casino bids to buy - 2004-01-15
Mountain High Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado's largest casino, and which filed for bankruptcy in November 2002, could fall into the hands of a local competitor.

The owner of Fitzgerald's Casino in Black Hawk announced Wednesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Denver that it has serious interest in purchasing Mountain High, which originally cost $150 million and operated as Black Hawk Casino by Hyatt until it relaunched under its present name in May.
