COUNCILS SET TO CASH IN ON SPREAD OF CASINOS - 2004-01-16
The Government's easing of gambling constraints means roulette and card tables will soon share space with bingo, sports betting and rows of slot machines.

The rule that requires gamblers to apply for casino membership 24 hours before playing will also go, and it is thought that the 3% of the adult population that visits casinos will increase sharply.

Casino 'crossfire' infuriates Campbell - 2004-01-16
A proposal to build an Indian casino east of Denver has U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell, the only Indian in the Senate, claiming he's being singled out due to his heritage.

Campbell, chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, said news reports on the casino, which he opposes, have focused more on him than they would have if the committee leader was "a white guy."
