County may end up with no new casino - 2004-01-17
After months of severe scrutiny of casino proposals for St. Louis and St. Louis County and the pending review by the Missouri Gaming Commission, the result may be that much of the local gaming scene will stay the same.

The city is likely to come out of the process with one casino, albeit a newer and much more luxurious one.

And the county still may be without one.

Casino revenue report due out Tuesday - 2004-01-17
A first count Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino earnings will be published Tuesday by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

The casino portion of the new Evangeline Downs situated in Opelousas has been in operation since Dec. 19.

Currently, all but about 300 of the 1,627 machines are in operation, said Lt. CBo Dean, district supervisor for the state police casino gaming division. Of those 300 machines, some were damaged in shipping, some have problems with certain parts and some simply have not been tested yet, Dean said.
