Senecas host meeting with other tribes - 2004-01-18
Seneca Nation of Indians officials hosted leaders
from three other New York tribes Friday at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls.
Present at the meeting besides Seneca Nation officials were leaders from the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, the Cayuga Nation of Indians and the Oneida Nation.
The purpose of the meeting, according to Seneca Nation President Rickey L. Armstrong Sr., is to discuss common issues the nations are facing including land claims, gaming, and the state’s plan to collect tax on Indian territory.
