Funds available to casino, workers say - 2004-01-02
A power struggle between the Chukchansi Indian tribe and the company that operates its new casino is to blame for $17 million in unpaid construction fees, the tribe claimed this week.

But unpaid subcontractors claim the tribe is ultimately responsible, and they are demanding that it use its available $20 million credit line.

"Here they've been saying, 'We want to pay you.' But here they can, and they won't," said Mary Holley, spokeswoman for Hopkins and Son Construction, which is owed more than $600,000 for work on the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino that opened near Coarsegold in June.

Regency Casino plans for spring 2004 opening - 2004-01-02
The Regency Casino, located on Casino Dr., is expected to open in the spring. The Regency’s general manager, George Yuill, said he has indications that the company he works for will be on
the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s March agenda.

At this time the company that owns the Regency Casino property, Deerpark LLC, will apply for a gaming license. Yuill said that although Deerpark LLC has owned the actual property for years it will be the first time they have operated the casino, as in the past they had always leased it out to tenants.

Yuill said that Deerpark LLC is out of San Bernardino, Calif., and that the person with the highest interest is Chris Crawford.
