The first of two studies on the potential impact of a casino in Dane County were published Monday, estimating that turning DeJope Bingo Hall into a casino would generate more than 1,300 jobs and bring $47 million a year to the community.
The $18,000 study was commissioned in early December by the Ho-Chunk Nation-funded Coalition for Fair Indian Gaming and Revenue Sharing Agreements.
A local anti-casino group, No Dane Casino, will release its study of the potential influence of a casino today. The group paid $4,000 to William Thompson, a professor at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, for the study.
