Elgin Mayor: Don't Put 10th Casino In Des Plaines Or Rosemont - 2004-01-22
The Mayor of Elgin is asking the state gaming board to "stick to the original criteria" in awarding the state's 10th casino license.

Mayor Ed Shock says a casino in Rosemont or Des Plaines would drive gamblers away from Elgin's casino, which is the state's most lucrative casino. Under the original criteria, Shock says, the 10th casino should be placed in the south suburbs or Waukegan, communities that he says need additional revenue sources. He says if the idea is new revenue for the state, location is key. He says the state should position the 10th license where it will retain Illinois patrons and attract patrons from Indiana and Wisconsin.

BIA sets Plymouth casino scoping session - 2004-01-22
The Bureau of Indian Affairs has scheduled a public scoping session for Feb. 4 at the Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth.

Planned to collect information on the environmental impact of the proposed Plymouth casino, the meeting will be the second and final such session held in conjunction with the Ione Band of Miwok Indians’ casino and trust acquisition project, BIA Regional Environmental Specialist Bill Allan said Friday. Allan will chair the meeting. A realty specialist and an environmental specialist, both to be named later, will also attend.
