R.I. leaders already exploring plans for Jumer's downtown location - 2004-01-22
Earlier this week, Jumers announced plans to build a $90 million floating casino, hotel and theater complex by the intersection of Interstate 280 and Illinois Highway 92. If the plan goes through, the present location downtown will be left deserted.

If and when Casino Rock Island moves out of the downtown, Quad City leaders want its replacement to be just as successful--if not a bigger draw--than the casino. That's why they're already planning for the future.

Parish reaps first racetrack income - 2004-01-22
St. Landry Parish got its first return of $114,307 from the new Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino on Wednesday.

The money represents 4 percent of the casino's earnings for December, after deductions for racing purses and horse associations.

From the $3.4 million monthly total, Evangeline Downs gave $627,295 in racing purses and to horse associations. Remaining was $2.8 million, of which, the parish and state each received a share.
