The Penobscot and Passamaquoddy tribes have asked legislators to revive the process of choosing a slot-machine operator in Bangor and give the Indians an opportunity to get in on the action. Less than three months after they lost a referendum to open a casino in Maine, the tribes submitted a plan that would force Bangor to begin anew its quest to set up a racino at Bangor Raceway.

Under their proposal, the tribes would team up with the Pequot Tribe, owners of the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, in seeking a slot-machine license for Bangor

Judge Rules For Casino - 2004-01-25
A Lane County court refused to hear arguments against a tribal casino by Florence on Friday and rejected a lawsuit challenging the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians gaming compact with the state, claiming the lawsuit was improperly filed.

In a four-page opinion rendered late Friday, Circuit Judge Karsten H. Rasmussen found that the lawsuit, filed by attorneys representing four members of People Against a Casino Town, was procedurally flawed.
