Former Foxwoods boss shapes new N.Y. casino - 2004-01-03
The chart shows a hotel and a huge entertainment center springing up on the 52 acres around St. Mary's of the Cataract Church. The buildings are part of the Seneca Niagara Casino's development plan over the next five years. St. Mary's isn't.

"The church stays," Mickey Brown, president and CEO of the Seneca Niagara Casino, said with a chuckle in a conference room behind his office.
"God stays. He's exempt."

The buildings rise in several frames along the chart, and some are moving closer to reality: Construction on a 26-story, 600-room hotel nearby will start in April.

Falls still awaits private sector investment - 2004-01-03
The casino is attracting bigger than expcted crowds,
sometimes swelling to 20,000 per day on weekends and in one year has hired 2,158 employees, making
it the region's 19th largest employer. That places it ahead of Moog Inc., Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Ford Motor Co.

Yet a couple of blocks from the casino's hub along Fourth Street little has changed. Private sector investment has been limited and outside the casino and its related developments, the biggest construction project going on in Niagara Falls is USA
Niagara's $17 million investment in a convention and conference hall.

That has become the conundrum in Niagara Falls.
