Should Japan reject casino games as morally corrupt? Or could this capitalist game end up being a great boon for the still sagging economy?
In recent months, some local governments have been putting together plans to open casinos as means of boosting their respective economies. The move was spearheaded by Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihara, who proposed establishing casinos in Tokyo's Odaiba area. The greatest hurdle is the Penal Code, which bans gambling except for municipally operated gambling sports.
