Tribe, County Content With Ruling Regarding Casino - 2004-01-05
It appears that El Dorado County and the Shingle Springs band of Miwok Indians are momentarily content with the outcome of a state lawsuit which was supposed to stall or prevent eventual construction of a casino/hotel in Shingle Springs.

After consideration, Judge Lloyd Connelly of Sacramento County Superior Court, ruled last week that all aspects of an environmental impact report conducted on a proposed interchange and subsequent casino/hotel project on Shingle Springs Rancheria land had been met apart from one. Connelly ordered Caltrans' counsel to do further studies in order to satisfy state air quality standards.

Casino Project Will Run $ 110 Million - 2004-01-05
The Muscogee Creek Nation's proposed casino in Oklahoma will be the largest Indian gaming operation in the state fronted by an outside management group. The tribe said in July that they are planning to construct a massive, multi-million dollar entertainment and gaming center on Tulsa's Riverfront Drive. The site will take the place of the tribe's current gaming facility at the same site.

The tribe has affiliated with a Houston-based company to build the casino. In return, Nevada Gold will receive 12 percent of the operation's profits. An analyst estimated that the casino could generate $36.7 million after expenses in its first year and $47 million in its fifth year.
