Red Rock Casino Decision Expected Soon - 2004-01-06
There is yet to be a formal statement on what the Red Rock Station Casino will look like. Station Casinos and Summerlin residents have been meeting for the past month to try and reach some agreement on the height of the new casino tower. Both sides will stand before county commissioners on Wednesday.

"When I look it I think it's breathtaking. Everyone here in the Valley has a right to look at it and say it's beautiful," said Lisa Mayo. Mayo is a member of the coalition working to protect Red Rock and the Summerlin neighborhood where the Red Rock Station Casino is slated to go up. Mayo continues, "It's going to be a big project -- 67 acres. We want it to fit in this neighborhood as best as possible."

American Casino & Entertainment Properties Acquires Vegas Casinos - 2004-01-06
American Real Estate Partners, L.P. announced today that American Casino & Entertainment Properties LLC and indirect wholly-owned subsidiary
of AREP has agreed to buy Arizona Charlie's Decatur and Arizona Charlie's Boulder, a pair of casinos in Las Vegas, from Carl C Icahn and an entitty associated with Mr. Icahn, for aggregate consideration of $125,900,000. Mr. Icahn is the chairman of the board of directors of the general partner of AREP.

The closing of the deal is subject to certain conditions, including, among other things, receiving all approvals necessary under gaming laws, but is not subject to financing. Upon the closing of the acquisition and upon receiving all approvals necessary under gaming laws, American Real Estate Holdings Limited Partnership, a subsidiary of AREP, will transfer 100% of the common stock of Stratosphere Corporation, the entity that owns the Stratosphere Casino Hotel & Tower, to American Casino.
