Ponting is a definite favourite to be crowned Australia's best player of the past 12 months at a presentation at Crown casino tonight.

He is all but guaranteed of taking home the Test player of the year award, and will vie with deputy Adam Gilchrist and fast bowler Brett Lee for the one-day trophy.

Skycity to buy MGM casino for $195m - 2004-02-11
Darwin's MGM Grand casino is to be bought for $195 million by a New Zealand company and will be renamed Skycity Darwin.

Skycity Entertainment Group yesterday said it had signed a sale and purchase agreement with the casino's US owners, MGM Mirage.

The sale is supposed to be finalised in the coming months, pending NT Government consent and the approval of the Foreign Investment Review Board.
