Atlantic City Casinos Delay Slots For Tracks - 2004-02-11
Bidders on a proposed lease of Monmouth Park face possible delays in installing slot machines, because of resistance from Atlantic City casinos, said the head of the state agency that operates the track. But George Zoffinger, president of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, said there is
still high interest among potential track operators, and a lease could have built-in amendments that would be triggered if additional gambling options were permitted.

Zoffinger said he and other state officials have been meeting with casino representatives, who are considering paying subsidies toward racetrack purses in exchange for a delay on pursuing slot machines or video lottery terminals at the tracks.

Aboriginal Students Win Awards - 2004-02-11
Two Western students are among 20 post-secondary students in Ontario who will be given grants in a special awards of excellence program honouring community and academic achievements.

The fifth annual Casino Rama Awards for Excellence
also took into consideration financial need when assessing dozens of applications from all over the province.

"Not only are these deserving recipients outstanding students, they have found time to give back to their communities by volunteering their time," said Art Frank, President and CEO of Casino Rama.
