Casino Resort Plans Deeply Divide California Tribe - 2004-02-11
Northern California Indian tribe is wracked by internal conflict even as developers have purchased
land in unincorporated North Richmond in hopes the tribe someday could transform it into a casino resort.
A petition signed by 27 members of the Lakeport-based Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians has been submitted to the tribal council, demanding a special meeting under the tribe's constitution to air charges that four council members “have committed acts which are contrary to the best interests of the Tribe and have abused the power of their office”.
