Subcontractors battle heats up - 2004-02-14
The battle persists for subcontractors that built the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino. After the Feb. 7 protest at the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino, former site manager and subcontractor advocate, David Hayden sent an angry letter to Cascade Entertainment Group; Chukchansi Economic Development Authority; Monteau and Peebles; Walton Construction Company, Inc.; Stephen Miller; and Gerald R. Williams.

The letter was a clarification of past events and upcoming future events. “We are well into the ninth month of our campaign to collect money due to many subcontractors; we will continue the crusade another nine years, if necessary,” said Hayden.

Democrats Vow To Keep Slots Parlor Out Of County - 2004-02-14
Gov. Bob Ehrlich's proposal to potentially open a gambling casino on Interstate 95 in Howard County has drawn a defiant response from a number of local Democratic legislators.

"Not in my lifetime," Del. Frank Turner, a Columbia Democrat whose district includes the majority of I-95 in Howard County, said of the proposal. "I think they'll have to take a tractor and run over a couple of us before they build a casino in Howard County."
