As the first patrons came through the doors of the Saratoga Gaming and Raceway casino last month, there was plenty of skepticism even among the most eager players at New York's first video lottery terminals.
"They say that all these lottery funds are going to education," said Maggie Crossman, a self-described occasional gambler and one of thousands who attended the casino's grand opening. "But I don't think it's as much as they told the public it would be."
