QM2 party was a high time on the high seas - 2004-02-15
The newest queen of the ocean received mainly enthusiastic reviews from gala-goers on a sold-out overnight cruise benefiting Miami City Ballet, New World Symphony and Winterfest. Guests aboard the Queen Mary 2 toured the ship, marveling over its 10 dining options, on-board Canyon Ranch Spa, casino, ballroom and planetarium.

John Bauer, one of the event chairs, said the ship is not only beautiful, but also good for the community.

''She's a great lady, and she makes a statement for Fort Lauderdale,'' he said ``We're lucky to be her winter home port. She epitomizes cruising in luxury and style.''

Spa serenity - 2004-02-15
As more and more spas emerge all over the place, defining the term can get difficult.

When motels put the word "spa" on their billboards, it often simply means that they offer guests a hot tub. Then there are day spas, where clients can get a skin treatment, massage, pedicure or manicure between visits to the steam room.

All the big hotels in Las Vegas now come equipped with lavish spas -- perhaps to soothe bored women whose husbands are blowing the mortgage downstairs in the casino sports book.
