Orchestra Celebrates Black History At Canfield Casino - 2004-02-16
The Albany Symphony Orchestra will present a fresh, 'outside-the-box' program to Canfield Casino at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19. The concert celebrates black history with new musical looks at both local history and beloved old 'negro' spirituals. The concert is the third and last of the orchestra's yearly Saratoga Series, funded by the Adirondack Trust Company. The program will show again at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.

While the ASO event includes a classic Mozart symphony, it is mostly an opportunity for the orchestra to continue its mission to introduce new works, this time with a black history theme.
