Locations of casinos up for vote - 2004-02-16
The City Commission will vote Tuesday on whether to prolong temporary rules on where casinos can be situated in Great Falls.

But it's quite a safe bet you won't see a new casino in your neighborhood anytime soon, unless someone sells an existing liquor license to be used in a new location.

A business needs a state liquor license to get a gambling license, and no more liquor licenses are available in Great Falls.

Under the rules enacted last summer, casinos can be opened only downtown and in general commercial or industrial zones.

S. Florida native gives Florida Follies showgirls that Ziegfeld look - 2004-02-16
It wasn't fear and loathing that brought Daniel Storey to Las Vegas from Fort Lauderdale in the '80s. It was feathers and beads.

The Florida native is now one of the top showroom costumers in the country, having worked with stars such as Cher, Diana Ross, Madonna and Ann-Margret. Now he is back - if not in person, then in the form of his creations for the revue show The Florida Follies, running through March 21 at Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale.

The musical/ comedy revue features elaborate sets and myriad costumes ranging from turn-of-the-century seashore styles to World War II wardrobing. But it's the Ziegfeld segment, featuring retired showgirls, that shows off what Storey does best, the kind of work he has done at lavish supper club productions at Casino de Paris and Jubilee.
