The glitzy neon signs that light the strip in “The South’s Casino Capital” appeal to hungry gamblers.

The Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall offers a lobster buffet for “JUST $12.95” and the Hollywood Casino across the street has an “epic buffet” which includes a “whole Maine lobster” for $19.50.

As for West York boxer Carney “Beeper” Bowman III, his initial Monday evening buffet consisted of a sampling of complimentary crushed ice from the hallway machine.

We were cheated, say casino winners - 2004-02-17
Six punters say they were cheated out of their casino winnings after GrandWest in Goodwood refused to pay their jackpots immediately.

The payouts amount to about R300 000. The winners waited for about two hours yesterday afternoon, but left Sun International's Western Cape gambling showpiece disgruntled.

Strand punter and gold card member Eric Meyer, who won just under R190 000 on the coin machines yesterday, said he had been playing on the machine for just under an hour when he hit the jackpot.
