Lawyer Who Aided Casino Deals Joins Tribe's Lobbyists - 2004-02-17
Michael Rossetti, the lawyer at the Department of the Interior who helped the Seneca Nation receive federal approval of its casino deal, is getting a new job with the Senecas' D.C. law and lobbying firm.
Rossetti, counselor to Interior Secretary Gale Norton and her key adviser on Indian gambling matters, will start work Feb. 23 as senior counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld. Akin Gump, a leading D.C. law and lobbying firm, helped draw up the Senecas' casino compact and also lobbies Congress on the tribe's behalf; it also employs former Rep. Bill Paxon.
