Christchurch Casino chairman seizes on rival's Darwin slip - 2004-02-17
Christchurch Casino chairman Barry Thomas has issued another warning to competitor Sky City Entertainment not to take a gamble on the city institution.

In a slip last week Sky City chief executive Evan Davies compared the company's $220 million acquisition of Darwin Casino to Sky City's other assets, mentioning the Christchurch Casino which was "approximately the same size" as Darwin.

While he was at pains to point out the Christchurch Casino was not one of Sky City's assets, the company has admitted it would be interested in the prospect of buying in.

'Healthy turnout' in county - 2004-02-17
Dane County voters set out to make history today, coming in large numbers to select a Democratic
nominee for president and to decide the fate of casino gambling here.

Dane County Clerk Joe Parisi said there appeared to be a "healthy turnout," and his phones had been ringing steadily starting at 7 a.m., with many residents asking for information on where to vote. "This usually indicates that new voters are going to the polls," he said.
