Ideas for the future of Radium Springs - 2004-02-17
Generations of South Georgians marveled in the natural wonder of Radium Springs and the manmade beauty of the historic casino. The flood-damaged building was razed late last year. And now, the area is off-limits. That will ultimately change. Monday, close to 50 people attended a hearing on the future of the property.

Radium Springs washes 79 year-old Dewey Parkman with a river of memories. "I drove past Radium Springs for 30 years. I love that place," said Parkman.

Gambling U-Turn May Be A Winner For Pubs - 2004-02-17
It is understood that ministers want to link any new casino developments to regeneration projects in poor areas. This could mean a limit on the number of new casino openings, meaning not as much competition for pubs. It had been feared that the relaxation of the gambling laws could hit the income of small pubs.

Last month the British Beer & Pub Association said it thought the government proposals would boost the multi-million pound “hard gambling” casino market while introducing further regulations on the social gambling enjoyed in pubs.
