1 casino suitor gives up on Orange Co. - 2004-02-18
Another casino company has withdrawn from the running for the Orange County casino.

Park Place Entertainment, which runs the Caesars Indiana casino in Harrison County, has withdrawn its application. In a news release, company officials said Park Place wasn't likely to get a large enough return on its investment in French Lick.

The decision leaves just three bidders for the state's 11th riverboat: Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts, a group lead by Indiana Pacers executive Larry Bird and a group lead by former Indiana State Police Sgt. Craig Adolph.

Casino talks defended as DA begins investigation - 2004-02-18
The Amador County District Attorney’s office is hearing recordings of Plymouth City Council meetings, investigating a possible violation of the Brown Act.

City Clerk Gloria Stoddard on Friday copied a tape of Thursday’s council meeting for the DA’s office, which she said requested tapes from meetings where the council handled municipal services agreement (MSA) negotiations with backers of a proposed casino.
