Casino Winner Beaten, Robbed After Leaving Harrah's - 2004-02-18
A man who won $800 at Harrah's Casino Tuesday night was assaulted and robbed after leaving the establishment, KMBC reported.

The victim said a white man in his 20s suggested to take him to meet some women. The victim said the man was about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed about 150 pounds.

When the pair went to an apartment near Parvin Road and North Bellaire, a second man pulled a knife, hit the victim and stole his money, KMBC's Martin Augustine reported.

House panel approves casino gambling measure for Shelby - 2004-02-18
A measure to change the state Constitution to permit casino gambling in Shelby County passed a House subcommittee Tuesday.

The resolution is sponsored by Rep. Larry Miller, D-Memphis, chairman of the State Government subcommittee that passed it.

Voters removed a prohibition against lotteries from the state Constitution by referendum 15 months ago, and the state's lottery began operating last month.
