Casino Rock Island says it’s committed to city - 2004-02-18
New York City investors approached Casino Rock Island to purchase its license and relocate the gambling operation to the Chicago suburbs, but casino officials said they are committed to a future in Rock Island.

Bill Renk, the casino's vice president of sales and marketing, said company officials met with investors but only to generate interest in the potential investment in the Rock Island project.

2nd firm pulls bid on casino project - 2004-02-18
A second casino company has withdrawn from the running for the Orange County casino.

Officials with Park Place Entertainment, which runs the Caesars Indiana casino in Harrison County, said the casino will probably not yield a return significant enough to make its investment worthwhile.

The decision leaves just three bidders for the state's 11th riverboat: Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts, a group led by Indiana Pacers executive Larry Bird and a group led by former Indiana State Police Sgt. Craig Adolph.
