Caesars Entertainment to open second Indian casino in California - 2004-02-18
Caesars Entertainment Inc. announced plans Wednesday to build a new $200-million hotel-casino northeast of Fresno, the company's second Indian gaming property in California.

The resort will be managed for the Big Sandy Band of Western Mono Indians on tribal land 10 miles away from the city. The property will have between 250 and 300 rooms and at least 2,000 slot machines.

And in 22 days, the red carpet will be rolled out and the Flying Elvi will fall from the sky when the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 7 miles east of Tampa, celebrates its grand opening.

"We promised you when we broke ground, we believed we could put this facility in the middle of the Las Vegas strip," James F. Allen, CEO of gaming operations for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, told reporters Tuesday. "We believe we've reached our goal."
