Second Firm Pulls Bid On Casino Project - 2004-02-19
An additional casino company has withdrawn from the running for the Orange County casino. Officials with Park Place Entertainment, which operates the Indiana casino in Harrison County, said the casino was unlikely to yield a return significant enough to make its investment worthwhile.

The decision leaves just three bidders for the state's 11th riverboat, a group led by Indiana Pacers executive Larry Bird and a group led by former Indiana State Police Sgt. Craig Adolph. In December, Jacobs Entertainment, based in Black Hawk, Colo., withdrew its application for the Orange County casino.

Casino will pay out despite jackpot glitch - 2004-02-19
Grandwest Casino will honour jackpot payouts in the sum of R355 970 to six punters after Monday's computer problem on several of the casino's slot machines.

This decision followed an investigation by the casino into the malfunction, after the punters complained about being refused payment when the slot machines showed that they had hit the jackpot.

GrandWest general manager, Kurt Peter, said on Wednesday: "At the time the six jackpots were won, we were undertaking routine maintenance and upgrading of hardware in our computer centre.
