REFERENDUM: Ho-Chunk not giving up casino quest - 2004-02-19
The Ho-Chunk Nation's search for a site for its fourth Wisconsin casino will go on even though voters resoundingly rejected the tribe's plan to build the facility in Madison, tribal officials said Wednesday.

The tribe has a list of other communities where the casino plan could go next, Ho-Chunk business director Jim Webster said.

"We have a number of locations where we're looking. We don't have a target fourth location," Webster said. "We'll have to find a community where it's a better fit."

Site, plans for casino in Natchez approved - 2004-02-19
The Mississippi Gaming Commission approved on Wednesday the location and development proposal for Emerald Star Casino and Resort, which would be the second casino in Natchez.

The $53 million development will occupy 60 acres south of the Mississippi River bridge and include a barge with 800 slots and 30 table games, an existing 162-room Ramada Inn that will under go renovation and the 15-room Briars bed-and-breakfast inn, said Charles Cato of St. Petersburg, Fla., president of Emerald Star Casino and Resort.
