As he walked to the podium Thursday morning to “inject a little realism” into the inaugural Northern Nevada Gaming Summit at a casino in Reno, the audience of 200 had no clue just how real Michael Meczka would get.

At one point saying Reno was “a great place to live, but who wants to visit there,” Meczka got the attention of area gaming executives, marketing managers and public relations professionals early with his introduction - “Reno, The Biggest Little City in the World: No more. Now (it's) just another little market with gaming.”

Bambastic Shiraz is top dog - 2004-02-20
LAL LAL champion dog Bombastic Shiraz is the 2003 Victorian Greyhound of the Year.

He edged out grand stayer Arvo's Junior at a gala event at Crown Casino in Melbourne yesterday night.

Bombastic Shiraz polled 18 votes ahead of Arvo's Junior, 16, Puzzle Prize eight and Oh Behave seven.

Part-owner and trainer Darren Cairns said the award was the crowning glory for Bombastic Shiraz.

"It caps a sensational run," he said.
