New maneuver in efforts to get Lake Tahoe pier approval - 2004-02-20
Casino lobbyist Harvey Whittemore and liquor vendor Larry Ruvo, unsuccessful thus far in federal court efforts to develop a big pier on Tahoe's upscale Glenbrook Bay, are attempting another maneuver involving historic Tahoe property.

The move has set off a legal battle in San Mateo County, California, Superior Court, where a March fourth hearing is scheduled on an estate trustee's request to move ahead with the plan for a nearly one million-dollar, 300-foot pier with up to three boat lifts.

Bayfront Lots to Be Built on in Barnegat, N.J. - 2004-02-20
This could be the year when houses will be constructed on three bayfront lots that house mover Bryan Gallagher tried for years to develop.

Gallagher, of Little Egg Harbor, spent years trying to move a five-bedroom, million-dollar home that belonged to a casino executive before he purchased
it for $1 in Longport, Atlantic County, to one of the Bay Shore Drive lots he owned.

But the barge carrying the house became stuck off Ocean City for six months in 2000. Then a dispute with Barnegat officials about building-permit applications kept the house on the barge.
