Casino-Racetrack Deal Is Near For Meadowlands - 2004-02-20
An agreement to transfer millions of dollars from Atlantic City casinos to the Meadowlands Racetrack and Monmouth Park is nearing completion, officials said Wednesday. The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority would accept the money from Atlantic City casinos and in turn defer discussions about installing video lottery terminals, which are similar to slot machines, at the racetracks.

Sports authority President George Zoffinger said the discussions with the New Jersey Casino Association involved the association paying $20 million to $25 million to the racetracks over three or four years, but he added that hard figures were still being hammered out.

Dubuque Park And Casino Expansion Plans - 2004-02-20
The Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino is already planning to double its racetrack's size and place 400 additional slot machines and as state legislators talk about allowing table games at racetrack casinos, the Dubuque Park is planning to expand even more.

The expansion will bring in more money, but some are concerned about where that money ends up. A $15.6 million expansion plan has already been approved for the greyhound park. The casino says it will bring in about $18 million in revenue each year which will help the state.
