Gambling blacklists prove to be a dicey proposition for casinos, players - 2004-02-21
Virginia Ormanian went through nearly all of her retirement savings playing slot machines in Detroit casinos last year.

The 49-year-old Wyandotte, Mich., woman got cash advances on her credit cards and cashed checks at the casinos. Once she won $8,000 playing slots, and the casino paid her after filling out the necessary tax forms.

But Ormanian shouldn't have been able to do any of it.

$36M SunCruz Deal Approved - 2004-02-21
SunCruz Casinos will have new owners as of the end of March if an agreement approved by a bankruptcy judge in West Palm Beach is signed as scheduled. Ocean Casino Cruises Inc. will pay $36.1 million to receive control of the Dania Beach-based gambling ship firm.

The company is a group of investors, including the nephew of SunCruz founder Gus Boulis. It plans to close on the deal, approved by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Paul Hyman, on March 31.
