Burswood rolls a $24.1m profit - 2004-02-22
Burswood Limited (BIR) today announced the company was planning to build on the positive result
achieved in the first half of the fiscal year with ongoing improvements in operating efficiency and performance. These comments came as the casino group revealed a net profit after tax of $24.1 million
for the six months ended 31 December 2003, up from the $4.5 million reported in the previous corresponding period.

Managing director, Mr John Schaap, said the result was very pleasing, reflecting a strong underlying performance in most parts of the business.

FAULTY TOWERS LATEST: BLOT THICKENS... AGAIN - 2004-02-22
The much anticipated redevelopment of a landmark Potteries building once named Faulty Towers is back
on the drawing board. A feasibility study is planned.

Eight years after Stoke-on-Trent City Council bought Unity House a £50,000 feasibility study is to be carried out into the future use of the Hanley building and the 2.5 acre site which surrounds it. This latest move to find a use for the 18-storey tower block comes 12 years after the city council last vacated the building.

Since then a string of schemes have failed, including plans to create a hotel, casino and ceramics show centre.
