Maine judge rules in favor of race track - 2004-02-22
A state judge has rejected arguments by an anti-casino group wanting to freeze a conditional racing license in the hands of Bangor Historic Track.

Friday’s decision came one day before the effective date of a voter-approved state law that allows slot machines at commercial racetracks if certain conditions are met.

Tracks need a racing license from the Maine Harness Racing Commission before they can operate slot machines. The commission granted a conditional license for the Bangor track Tuesday.
