Ferrucci gets to be product judge - 2004-02-22
John Ferrucci, general manager of Casino Magic Biloxi, got a nice honor not long ago when he was asked to judge the most innovative casino products of the year, which were recognized at the beginning
of this month at the American Gaming Summit in Las Vegas.

Ferrucci, the president of the Gulf Coast Gaming Association, was on the judges panel, along with Dennis Conrad, a casino marketing consultant; Lee Skelley, assistant general manager of Barona Valley Ranch, an Indian casino near San Diego; and Frank Neborsky, vice president of slot operations for the massive Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut.

Bureau of Indian Affairs staff has ties to conflicted tribe - 2004-02-22
Amid the rolling hills of vineyards and wineries in what is turning into one of California's fast-developing wine regions, a once-tiny, almost destitute tribe is pushing hard to construct a $100 million casino.

It is doing so only because regional Bureau of Indian Affairs officials opened the tribe's membership rolls against the wishes of its traditional leadership, then oversaw an election that swapped the old leadership for a pro-casino group including some BIA officials themselves.
