Chips are down for casino fraudsters - 2004-02-22
Radio-transmitting casino chips expected on the market later this year could make life more difficult for gambling cheats.

The chips contain tiny "tags" that broadcast a unique identification code. Not only will they combat counterfeiting and theft, but they could help casino operators monitor gamblers.

American casino owners already routinely keep an eye on their tables with security cameras. The casinos want to check that big winners are not cheating, and to identify lucrative "high rollers" who can be encouraged to play more, helping turnover.

Southland casino takes in 9 more towns - 2004-02-22
Nine communities initially left out of the Country Club Hills casino proposal will share in the anticipated revenue, albeit in smaller shares than the original 18.

The United Southland coalition last week announced a second tier of revenue sharing that would include East Hazel Crest, Lynwood, Markham, Merrionette Park, Park Forest, Richton Park, Sauk Village, South Chicago Heights and Steger.

Those communities will divide 7 percent of the proposed casino complex's revenue, while the original 18 will divide 53 percent.
