Illinois license no endangerment to area boats - 2004-02-26
The dice rolled in favor of Northwest Indiana gambling boats when locations still in contention for a 10th Illinois gaming license all turned up far from here.
Harrah's also runs casinos in Joliet and Metropolis, in Illinois.

Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City is the least impacted of the four Northwest Indiana boats by any site selected for a 10th license in Illinois, stated Rob Stillwell of Blue Chip's parent company Boyd Gaming Corp.

Ellis Park excluded out of a casino bid - 2004-02-26
Ellis Park has been excluded out of a proposal that would permit casino gambling at nine locations across Kentucky, including Owensboro.

If the legislation were to pass the Kentucky General Assembly and be authorized by constituents in November, it would create further inquiries as to the future of the Henderson track.

Henderson County Judge-executive Sandy Watkins voiced concern regarding what competition from an Owensboro casino would do to Ellis and the community.
