Tons of applicants line up for new casino jobs - 2004-02-27
They arrived adorned in suits and shorts, skirts and shirt-sleeves.
But what they all desired Thursday was a job at the Seminole Tribe of Florida's new $200-million Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.

An estimated 2,500 people arrived on the first day of a three-day job fair. Over 600 were given jobs on the spot, a casino spokesman reported. The Seminoles are expecting to find some 1,800 employees in time for a late-April debut.

Clark could file casino measure today - 2004-02-27
The gambling bid that House Speaker Pro Tem Larry Clark intends to file today would earmark $175 million annually for statewide education programs from nine Kentucky casinos.

Under Clark's plan, five racetracks would be granted licenses to run casinos. Another four casinos would be permitted at other sites. The measure would require three-fifths majorities in the General Assembly prior to being put before constituents on the November ballot.
