BIA dealing with latest in series of federal probes - 2004-02-28
Conflict of interest investivations were initiated this past week into a regional office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs are just the most recent probes of an agency that has been hit with repeated allegations of ethics violations and incompetent management.

Other allegations featuring tribal recognition entangled the Clinton administration’s BIA director and top officials, one of whom purportedly illegally backdated documents awarding federal recognition to a Seattle tribe looking to launch a casino.
