Vegas casinos Super Bowl winners despite NFL flap - 2004-02-03
U.S. football fans flooded Las Vegas and bet big over the weekend despite few big-screen screenings of the game, casino operators said Monday.

A number of Las Vegas Strip resorts said they pulled down oversized screens, scrapped admission charges or made both changes after the National Football League objected to some of their party plans for the game, the most popular U.S. television event of the year.

Gambling Hearing at Legislature - 2004-02-03
The gambling debate is taking center stage at the statehouse.

A public hearing on the issue took place Monday night.

The issue in the legislature is whether the state should lift its current ban on issuing new casino licenses.

Lawmakers are also considering whether the state should require riverboat casinos to cruise. They're discussing whether the state should allow table games at the state's racetrack casinos.
